# ISO Recertification at Rubric At Rubric, we understand that trust is paramount for our clients. When companies collaborate with us for global content localization, they need assurance that their projects are managed with utmost care and precision. One significant way we demonstrate our reliability is through external validation via ISO certifications. Our ISO certifications provide objective evidence of our commitment to quality processes. However, these certifications are not a one-time achievement; they require ongoing dedication. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) mandates recertification every three years, and we are proud to have recently achieved this milestone. ## Our ISO Certifications We first obtained ISO certification in 2018 for translation services (ISO 17100). As a localization provider, it was crucial for us to validate the quality of our translation services, including working with qualified linguists and establishing robust processes to manage projects, ensure compliance, and achieve client satisfaction. Recognizing that our services extend beyond translation, in 2021, we expanded our credentials to encompass the broader aspects of our business. This brought our total ISO certifications to five: - **ISO 17100 – Translation Services**: Demonstrates that our internal processes are geared towards delivering high-quality translations and content management services, ensuring we have the necessary resources to meet client needs. - **ISO 9001 – Quality Management**: Certifies that we consistently provide products and services that meet client requirements and comply with applicable statutory and regulatory standards, with processes designed to enhance client satisfaction and promote continuous improvement. - **ISO 27001 – Information Security Management**: Indicates that we have established and maintain information security management systems, systematically reviewing potential threats, vulnerabilities, and impacts to protect client information. - **ISO 14001 – Environmental Management**: Shows that we systematically manage our environmental responsibilities, ensuring our operations do not negatively affect the environment and demonstrating our commitment to ongoing sustainability. - **ISO 22301 – Business Continuity**: Certifies that we have systems and resources in place to serve our clients even in the face of disruptions, maintaining a consistent level of service in situations that threaten normal operations. These certifications add significant value for our clients. For instance, as digital threats continue to evolve, businesses seek assurances regarding information security and business continuity. Additionally, clients expect suppliers to demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability. Although our environmental impact is relatively small, it is an area we are deeply committed to improving. ## The Recertification Process Recertification is an ongoing cycle of improvement over a three-year period. We maintain a rolling program of internal audits, assessing different processes each month to ensure we meet the required standards and identify areas for enhancement. Kim Kerr, our Global Content Business Analyst, explains: > "The internal audits challenge us to look at all our processes and procedures cohesively. If we change one thing, does that have a knock-on effect elsewhere, or introduce a new risk? Gaining that detailed oversight of our whole business has been really valuable." The ISO standards are regularly updated to remain relevant in a changing world. Therefore, we not only need to maintain previous standards but also demonstrate continuous improvement and development. For example, climate change considerations have been integrated into all standards, prompting us to examine our supply chains and identify potential climate-related risks. In addition to our ongoing internal reviews, we undergo an external "surveillance audit" each year. This audit ensures that our business management plan and internal audits are functioning effectively, systems and processes are maintained, and any recommendations are implemented. Kim adds: > "If we missed anything, the external auditors would be sure to spot it." Looking ahead, we will continue to maintain—and improve—our Business Management System to support our five ISO certifications, as well as monitor developments that might become relevant to our business and our clients.
